Purpose:

To determine the maintenance required keeping units performing according to the client's expectations in the present operating conditions.

Program Contents

1) Inlet gate & trash rack
• Log lifting or gate raising devices
• Gate seals
• Trash rack integrity

2) Wickets
• Wicket gate linkage
• Clearance and interference checks

3) Output shaft & components
• Wet bearing inspection - trend to predict life cycle
• Thrust and main bearings - liner inspection, clearance check, oil level
• Shaft alignment

4) Runner
• Surface inspection (visual, magnaflux, dye penetrant)
• Clearances and movement on variable pitch units

5) Water pit
• Cracks, corroded beams, loose masonry
• Guarding

6) Draft Tube
• Structural stability
• Thickness measurements

7) Power house & water works
• Dam components
• Hydro structures
